‘On the Brink’ of a Networked Society

Posted filed under Documentaries, Internet, Mobile, Technology, Videos.

In “On The Brink” we discuss the past, present and future of connectivity. Each of the interviewees discusses the emerging opportunities being enabled by technology as we enter the Networked Society. Concepts such as borderless opportunities and creativity, new open business models, and today’s ‘dumb society’ are brought up and discussed.

Gigaom: “Created on Ericsson’s behalf and entitled On The Brink, the video features interviews from Caterina Fake, co-founder of Hunch and Flickr, Erik Wahlforss co-founder of SoundCloud and others discussing the effect of broadband on society. It’s kind of like a 20-minute version of our RoadMap conference next week, where we have other big name thinkers talking about the same topic. The 20-minute documentary looks at the past, present and future of connectivity and technology, and the impacts on people, business and society.

“We are the last generation that grew up in a dumb society where things were stupid … and uninteresting,” Ola Ahlvarsson, CEO of Keynote Systems says in the video. And he’s right. As the video explores what might happen if Facebook applied for a banking license and what happens when the web talks back, I found myself feeling like the old guy who came of age when cars were just beginning to replace horses. The world is changing, and we are at the very beginning of it. Check it out.”
