Peter Tukei Muhumuza
Peter Tukei Muhumuza is a painter, photographer, and filmmaker based in Bwijanga, Uganda. He experiments with found material in his work, a practice that is typical of his community. Muhumuza attended the Maisha Film Lab in 2009, where he made his directorial debut with the silent film Ink (2009). His short film Kengere (2011) was selected for the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

The ikono On Air Festival is showing Peter Tukei Muhumuza’s Reflection (2012). This film was made in response to an invitation from Olafur Eliasson to create a short film about light, life, energy, and his Little Sun lamp.

Told using puppets, the film relates an event whereby soldiers locked 69 people in a train and set fire to it in 1989. Later on, a cyclist returns to his village to look for a cassette tape that contains the voices of the victims.
