Tracy Valcarcel is a multidisciplinary artist born in Lima and based in Montreal. Focusing on performance and video installation, since 2010 Tracy has worked with the theme of the body and its position within a cultural identity framework. She was trained as a pianist and a dancer in Lima under the guidance of choreographers Sonia Hayashida and Morella Petrozzi. In 2009 she was invited to participate in a month-long Laboratory of Creative Research Meetings with Remarkable Women hosted by the Grotowski Institute in Wroclaw, Poland. In 2012 she graduated from Concordia University with a Fine Arts degree in Intermedia Cyberarts and later that year exhibited as part of the Fine Arts10th Annual Graduating Students Exhibition at the FOFA Gallery in Montreal. Her work has been shown at local venues including Eastern Bloc, La Elastica, Coatcheck Gallery and Studio 303 as well as internationally in Peru, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Spain.
